back at work

today is my 1st day back at work after 2 weeks of leave.
i woke up at 5.20am, even before the alarm rang.
did my washing up and left home at 5.45am.
i think i took the first bus and arrived in office at 6.05am.
when everyone is still asleep, when the sun has yet to rise.
i'm already sitting down in front of my com reading and clearing the accumulated 315 emails.
plus have to prepare for shift briefings notes and staff schedule for the day.
all these have to be completed before 7am when the shift starts.
back to work means increase of my blood pressure.
one of my staff used to tell me that in order for my department staff to be disciplined at work especially when i'm not around, i have to place my beautiful picture in the room, right at their faces where they can see.
then they will be 'motivated' to work.
'shaking my head' after i stepped into the store.
only one sentence in my mind - i got to make noise at them!
one of my staff told me that he dreamt of me the previous night.
he thought he was dreaming when he saw me in office this afternoon.
i asked him what did he dream of?
he said i was scolding him.
he just stood still and replied me with 'yes mdm, no mdm, yes mdm'.
i said 'wow! how do you know? that is exactly what i'm going to do now.'
and i gave him a little bit piece of my mind.
which lasted about 5 minutes.
guess what?
its just as he dreamt.
he replied 'yes mdm, no mdm, yes mdm'.
that's just one only.
i got a couple more to suffer from my tongue lashing.
sigh! gave me headache....
i immediately popped 2 panadol pills after dinner when i reached home.
as i typed now, you can imagine how glad i am that the day has ended.
oh well.

one of my fellow managers called me to pour her grievances.
this particular sentence just amuses me.
'our 2 bosses: 1 has no balls, the other 1 carry balls.'
i was smiling when i heard that.
it may be just a simple short sentence but the words fully describes them so right.

i always think my mum as a great woman.
not only did she take care of her 3 grown up children who still behaves like kids + my dad who still ... cannot make it at times.
ha!
my mum is a brave woman too.
she has went through 2 major knee operations, today she went through another one.
it's her right hand.
the operation was called 'trigger finger release'.
my mum can't move her fingers on her right hand, neither could she clutch her fist.
she's been enduring the pain for these past few months.
though it's not a big operation as previously but i have to acknowledge and compliment on her courage.
yesterday, she was notified of her operation for today.
despite such short notice, my mum still want to proceed.
i've been with my mum at SGH since 8.40am this morning.
we just came back at around 9pm.
alot of waiting and waiting today.
we waited till 4.10pm then my mum was pushed into the operating theatre.
she was pushed out around 6.40pm.
then we waited for the doctor to review and take prescription of medication.
my mum was impatient as she can't wait to get out of the place.
she went to harass the ward nurses.
to the extend that she stood at the counter to 'pressurize' them.
though the hospital foodcourt doesn't served great tasty food but my mum couldn't care much coz she was rrreeeaaalllyy hungry.
after all were done, we left the hospital at 8pm plus.
we took a cab home coz my mum was too tired and the painkiller has worn off.
my mum said the pain isn't very great.
at least compared to the 2 knee ops, it's still endurable.
so, ... these 3 weeks i got to do my own laundry (plus my sis) and help out in housework.

finally met up with ginn for a nice dinner.
we ate at jurong point, kuishin-bo.
my first time having dinner at that restaurant.
my previous visits were all lunch.
dinner seems 'fresh' to me.
mainly seafood like crabs and prawns.
there is a hourly bell for special treats.
we are not that kiasu though; ginn once accidentally got herself into the queue.
and we had a fun time infront of the chocolate fondue.
ginn enjoys having fruits with it.
we spent about 3 to 4 hours chatting and catching up.
of course, we updated each other about what we are currently doing, upcoming plans, our family, trips/holiday and also our dear friend in s.f.
hhhmmm.... hope you can come back and join our reunion soon, qiyu!

yesterday evening happen to see my dear friend, joey on msn.
we haven't been in touch since my birthday last year.
looks like both of us were busy with our own agenda.
but it doesn't feel we are distant despite the gap in between.
of course, we updated each other on how we were/are.
from the short chat, it brought out a smile out of a frown from my face.
makes me bubble up with a strong boost of confidence on what my dear friend has offered words of encouragement to me.
